That's My King

So often many of us forget who exactly Jesus is. I'm not talking about the vague description of just our Savior, or the culturally excepted, but theologically offensive title of "homeboy". When is the last time you actually took into mind what all Jesus did for you, for me? When was the last time you really saw Jesus for who He really is and not what the world has made Him out to be?

Here's a reminder for all of us, check out the video below. May we never grow complacent with the cultural norm that Jesus is just some religious figure. May we be reminded daily, hourly, of the sacrifice He paid and of His power to overcome the world.

My Core

Hello beautiful people! Last time I posted I shared with you that God is doing some amazing things in my life. I have so much I want to share but I'm trying to process most of them into a reasonably understandable, readable version preferably with words. :) It's a little hard to begin to put into words some of the things that God is teaching me right now. There are a few things that I know for sure though and I'd like to share them with you. I'm not sure who all my blog audience is, but here is what I call my core; my passions, beliefs, and callings. Things that are close to my heart and how I live my life.

I love Jesus, first and foremost. I am grateful for what God is doing in my life and am excited for where He is taking me.

I love my three and half year old daughter Soda, who is the cutest dog in the world! She is spoiled and I have no problem with being the one responsible for that. :)

I am an ^ Elevator! Elevation Church is my second home, come check us out! I love my church and am honored to be apart of such a great move of God.

I spend my weekends hanging out with 4th and 5th graders and teaching them about Jesus, greeting people, feeding the poor and hanging out with the homeless.

I believe in radically living out the Gospel in response to a radical death on the cross and a mighty resurrection. I will not settle for living a comfortable life when so many people are uncomfortable.I never want to be a comfortable Christian because Christ sure as heck wasnt comfortable for me on the cross.

I believe in resurrecting the global Church as a living, moving, breathing body of followers who go out into the world to serve. I believe the church is not a building, but a movement; not an organization, but an organism.

I believe that reaching one person can change a family, changing families can change a city, changing cities can change a nation, and changing a nations will change the world.

It's Summer Time!

have so many things to share with you guys, but too little time to fully process and put them into words. So today I'm going to share the most easiest thing first, but keep your eyes peeled for much more in depth and meaningful thought from my life! :)

Everyone knows it summer time, and we all know what that means.....SUMMER READING! Okay, well maybe thats the last thing on some of your lists, its okay I know most of you are busy with summer jobs (or your normal job), spending time with the family, or working on that tan. But for me I've set a list of a few books I want to read this summer and have made a pact with myself to not buy any more books until I have read the ones I have. I'm that kind of person that sees a really good book and just has to have it, even when I have 50 of those "have to haves" at home.

So far this summer I have finished two off my list; Radical by David Platt and The Christian Atheist by Craig Groeschel. They are both books I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

I absolutely love what God is doing through both of these men. David Platt, pastor of The Church at Brook Hills has a heart for the falling marginalized church and reaching those who have yet to heard the gospel. He is urgent about making Jesus known and he boldly proclaims the message God has given him. Craig Groeschel is the pastor of the second largest church in America and has a challenging message for us all. This book hits key struggles we face as Christians and challenges us live a life in full trust to God. We all struggle at times with "believing in God but living as if He doesn't exist", whether we are brave enough to admit it or not.

Check out the previews for both of these books:
